Electrical Engineering Essay
Important Changes/ Developments in Electrical and Chemical Engineering over the last 5 years
Many changes or developments have been happening in these two fields in the last 5 years. It is quite notable how electrical engineering has helped in shaping many other disciplines through the innovations and developments that have been taking place in the field. From a general view electrical engineering is a field in the wide engineering profession that is concerned with the study and application of electronics, electricity and electromagnetism. Electrical engineering is a very broad field involving a multiple number of disciplines, which include power engineering, control engineering, electronic engineering, and microelectronics, signal processing, telecommunication engineering, instrumentation engineering and computer engineering (Smit, Morshuis and Gulski, p. 93). In the past, there had been broad differences between electrical engineering and electronic engineering, but they have now come to be taken as a single profession.
The last five years has seen many changes and developments in the wide and diverse area of electrical engineering. This includes the inventions that have been invented in the disciplines that make up the wider field. One of the major changes that have happened in the field in the recent past is the blurring of the distinction between electrical and electronic engineering (Sevgı, p.94). This is due to the fact that initially these two were being taken as two distinct professions, but currently this distinction has been coming into scrutiny and inventions have helped narrow up this distinction. The discovery and the growth of power electronics has helped in doing this and done away with the notion that electrical engineering is mainly concerned with power transmission and motor control where electronic engineering is concerned with the building up of small-scale electronic systems such as computers and integrated systems.
The development of fast-speed integrated circuits and computer chips is a major development that has happened in the field of electrical engineering. The development of the 64-bit processors has helped revolutionize the computing discipline and affected many other disciplines that have been using computer technology in their operations. As for today, computers are used in almost every sector of the economy bringing together the much needed speed and accuracy that comes about with their application in the operations.  Electrical engineering has also played a significant role in the development of signal processing technologies. These include EDGE, GPRS, GSM and GPS that have been widely used in mobile technology. These technologies have enhanced communication through enhancing signal processing and both video and audio filtering making communication much more efficient.
Chemical engineering is a discipline in the wider engineering profession that is mainly concerned with physical and life sciences (Ogawa, p.128). It aims at coming out with processes that convert raw material or chemicals into more useful or valuable forms. Chemical engineering can be divided into two parts; chemical process engineering which is the design, manufacture and operation of chemical plants and machinery in industrial processes and chemical product engineering which is the development of new substances such as drugs, foods, beverages, or pharmaceutical products. Chemical engineering is a very diverse engineering field and covers the areas of biotechnology, nanotechnology and mineral processing.
Chemical engineers are usually tasked with the development of economic ways of using materials and energy. The majority of chemical plants have been automated and chemical and process engineers are tasked with controlling and directing the processes from computer systems which has made the whole process a success and simpler to undertake.
Chemical engineering as a discipline has seen lots of developments in the last five years. Much of the developments and changes that have been witnessed arise from the development of computing technology and computers. Using the modern computing technologies, the industrial processes that the chemical engineers are involved in have made it much easier to undertake by being automated. By automation, the process and chemical engineers have done lots since the processes that they control are able to be controlled using diverse and complicated computer programs.
Chemical engineering has been known to be very much connected to genetic engineering. This connection has seen the development of one of the most significant projects in both fields, the Human Genome Project. Chemical engineering principles have been used widely in the production of DNA sequences in large quantities which have been widely used to study the genetics of the human body. The Human Genome Project (HGP) is a scientific research project that combined principles of genetic and chemical engineering to determine the sequence of the chemical base pairs which make up DNA (McElheny, p.78). On top of determining the sequence of the chemical base of the DNA, the project was also aimed at identifying and mapping genes of the human genome from both physical and functional perspectives. With this development both chemical and genetic engineers are able analyze the human genetic system for more understanding and future studies and developments (Lone, p.53).

task 6

One of the good things in the word is a single global currency. There can be no doubt that trade and travel would be vastly easier. On the other hand I believe that it would cause problems today.

The benefits of a single currency can be seen with the use in Europe of the Euro. Whenever you are travelling between countries using the Euro, the problems of currency changing and exchange rates are history. Similarly business between countries using the Euros is so much easier; no more worrying about exchange rate risk and pricing. Everyone‛s money is the same. The same thing is true with the US dollar. Most countries do not use the US dollar but it is accepted in many places.

At present though a global currency would be impossible. Firstly some countries would not accept that because they don’t like each other. Secondly some are economically very strong and some are in a state of collapse with inflation ruining the economy. Such countries could not be brought into a world currency as it would cause massive financial instability worldwide.

In conclusion I see a global currency as a future ideal but it will not happen in my lifetime. It would make trade and travel much easier but the problems it would cause nowadays would be insurmountable.

Task 5

The line graph shows the number of overseas visitors traveling to Australia in millions of people. Overall, one notable trend seems to be that Australia has steadily become more popular as a destination spot. That's a jump from 9 million to 32 million in 20years.

The second table gives statistics showing the countries whose residents went to Australia between 1975 and 2005. In both years, the largest number of visitors came from Japan, followed by South Korea and Europe. Britain, the United States and China also had many people traveling to Australia in these years. For example, in 2005, 12 million people went there from Japan compared with only 3.2 million in 1975.

In conclusion the number ofpeople visiting Australia grew all 6 regions. Also it increased to more than 32 million visitors less than 40years.

task 4

The children should compete and co-operate at different times. Sometimes they should compete and at other times they must co-operate. Also we must support both sides of the argument.

At school and at work the children will find a challenge between them. This will help to raise them to be competitive. All of this is in the interest of society, because in the competition the community will get good people and so get a good future from them, so they will have good teachers, engineers and different professions. Also in the sport the children must compete, because it will help them to be healthy.

On the other hand, the children must learn there are good things in the co-operation and helping the other people. Without the co-operation we will not get to the level of development which we need. It is important that children learn to be sympathetic and to understand each other. The co-operation makes people closer, because everyone will help the others. Today in the college you must work in groups and this will help you to co-operate.

To get the best life we must raise our children to co-operate and compete. We cannot separate competition and co-operation.

task 3

Diet is one thing that helps us maintain or improve our general health. It is important for lower health risks, such as obesity, heart disease, and cancer.

The key to a health balanced diet is not to omit any foods or food groups but to balance what you eat by consuming a variety of food from each group in one right proportion. The first food group is fruit and vegetables. You should eat fruit and vegetables every day because this food group gives you vitamins. Another group of food contains things such as bread, rice, and potatoes; this group gives you more protein.

I agree that a balanced diet is important to have good health, but also exercise is important to have good health. You have to walk every day and go running. Also you have to play sport such as football, basketball and other sport because by sport you can lesser your weigh and you will have good health. If you are overweight you will have bad health and you will have many diseases. For example in the UAE there are many people who are overweight and for this they did not have good health.

In conclusion a balanced diet is not the only way to have good health but also exercise gives you good health.

These two figures are bar charts. The two bar charts are showing the main reasons for study among students of different age groups and the amount of support thy received from employers in the UK.

The first bar chart shows the reasons for study according to the age of the student. The main reason young students study is to improve their career prospects. From the bar chart, for those under 26, the percentage is 80, for those aged 26-29, 70% and for those in their 30s, just under 60%. For those in their 40s, an equal number study for interest; for those over 49, they study more for interest.

The second bar chart shows the employer support, by age group. Those under 26 get more support than the others, over 60%. Those aged 30-39 get less employer support than those aged 26-29; the percentage is 51% for the younger group but only 33% for the older group. For those aged 40-49, the percentage is 39%. For those over 49 the percentage is 45%.

task 1

From this table we know information about the sale of a downtown restaurant in an American business district in October. The weekdays are from Monday to Friday and the weekend is Saturday.

For lunch from Monday to Friday, weekdays, the sales were from $2,375 on Thursday to $2,595 on Wednesday. The lower sales were on Saturday at $1,950. For dinner according to the table the information is showing that the sales are similar to the lunch from Monday to Friday and it was from $3,445 on Wednesday to $4,350 on Friday. Also it shows they increased on Friday by $905. At the weekend the sales dropped to $2,900 because some people eat at home. Also some of them live outside the district.

Dinner sales were higher than the lunch in general in the weekdays and at the weekend. The table shows on Sunday the restaurant was closed.
